Fallbrook Ag Boosters Scholarship ~ 2020

The Board of Directors of the Fallbrook Ag Boosters has established a fund to award five (5) $1,000.00 scholarships to deserving college students. Three (3) of the five scholarships are to be awarded to declared agricultural majors. The two (2) remaining scholarships may be awarded to students not pursuing careers in agriculture. The applications will be reviewed annually based on the applications received.

To be eligible to apply for a scholarship, the applicant must have participated in FFA and/or 4H activities for at least 3 years of their high school career.

The scholarships are awarded based on the applicant’s participation in 4H/FFA activities during their high school years, leadership and community involvement while in high school, present community activities, college academic performance, and any ongoing employment the applicant is involved in.

To be considered for an Ag Booster Scholarship the applicant must follow the rules and requirements listed below.

Because every effort is made to award the scholarships on a fair and impartial basis, the requirements should be read carefully and followed completely or the applicant will be disqualified.

Rules & Requirements

1. The applicant must have participated in Fallbrook, Rainbow, or Bonsall 4H and/or Fallbrook FFA, for a minimum of three years in high school.

2. If the applicant is applying for one of the “Agriculture Major” scholarships, he
or she must be a declared agriculture major at the college or university he or she is attending.

3. The applicant must have completed one (1) year of college level studies at a two
or four year college or university and completed 24 semester units or 36 quarter units prior to applying.

4. The applicant must have a cumulative 2.5 GPA (grade point average) proof of which will be verified by their official college transcripts.

5. The applicant must be currently enrolled in a two or four year college or
university and taking a minimum of 12 semester units or 12 quarter units. The applicant’s current attendance must be verified by their college or university registrar.

6. The applicant must submit official college transcripts, of all college level courses completed, with their application.

7. Scholarships awarded must be used during for the academic year the applicant is applying for, and their enrollment must be verified as outlined in requirement #5.

8. Each applicant is eligible for only one of the five scholarships.

Instructions for Completing the Application

1. The application itself consists of 4 (four) pages and must be filled out exactly as stated in the instructions for each page.

a) Pages 1 & 2 outline the applicant’s personal Information, and their present school enrollment information.

b) Page 3 reviews the Applicant’s 4H and / or FFA history and participation. Also included are two additional questions. One requires a brief statement about what the 4H and/or FFA have meant to the applicant, while the second question requires an essay biographical answer.

c) Page 4 is an Authorization and Release.

2. In addition to the application itself, the Applicant must submit the following:
a) An official certified copy of the Applicant’s college transcripts from
all colleges or universities attended by the Applicant.
b) A wallet size “head shot” of themselves.

3. The entire application package is to be placed in a large manila envelope and
mailed by the U.S. Postal Service, to:

The application package must be postmarked no later than 08/01/2020.

The Scholarship Committee Chairperson will review all applications postmarked by the due date and completed correctly. The Chairperson will then take steps to insure the anonymity of each application and will not participate in the scoring of the applications. Each member of the Scholarship Judging Committee will score the anonymous applications based upon a pre-determined scoring scale. Once individually scored the application scores will be averaged and the winning applications will be chosen. The Chairperson will then reveal the winning applicant’s identities.
